Weatherization Assistance Program
As a part of our energy conservation efforts, ACTION-Housing makes energy audits, home weatherization, and safety checks available for no cost to qualifying low-income homeowners and tenants in Allegheny, Washington, and Greene counties. ACTION-Housing offers these services through its Weatherization Assistance Program.
This energy conservation program has been made possible by an extra boost in funding as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. ACTION-Housing is the largest provider of the Department of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program in Pennsylvania.
The Weatherization Assistance Program provides energy conservation improvements for individual homes and apartment buildings. Methods include:
- Energy audits
- Healthy home insulation
- Reducing air infiltration
- Servicing heating and cooling systems
- Providing health and safety diagnostic services
In 2010, ACTION-Housing provided weatherization services to 1,866 homes. We also conducted 855 quality control inspections and energy audits for utility companies throughout the state.

ACTION-Housing, Inc. is the Weatherization Assistance Program provider for the majority of Allegheny County (north of Route 51) and all of Washington and Greene Counties.
